The balcony is a part of the building that grants us a view over everything. Looking down from above, one can be a messenger, a bringer of hope. At times, this hope constructs a dream so consuming that the line between reality and dream becomes impossible to discern. This surreal blending can turn into a nightmare where your only desire is to wake up—a awakening that seems achievable only through a fall from that very height. Part of this painting is inspired by and adapted from one of Salvador Dalí’s stolen works, an artwork itself suspended on the threshold between reality, dream, and disappearance.
